Jul 21, 2015 at 11:22 AM
The “In Memoriam” concert will be held at 3 p.m. at 1201 Jefferson St. in Muskegon.
The recital will honor the life of Sheets, who had contributed greatly to the music community for many years. The concert will feature music written by Sheets.
Sheets taught at Muskegon Community College for 15 years. Prior to that, she was a minister of music at Samuel Lutheran Church and an organist at Bethany Reformed Church in Muskegon. Since her retirement, Sheets devoted time to composing church music. Some of her pieces for organ and her hymn tunes appear in several hymnals.
The program will also feature the Motet and Schema choirs of First Congregational Church, which will perform Sheets’ music, as well as “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” by Brahms. Surrounding area organists will also be performing organ solos.
A free-will offering will be taken and reception will follow the program.
