Winter weather advisory until 6 p.m.

Mark Brooky • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:22 AM

The National Weather Service said lake-effect snow will continue today. An additional 3-6 inches of snow is expected. Localized higher amounts may occur due to lake effect.

Newly fallen snow froze up as temperatures dropped into the teens Friday night, creating slick driving conditions.

North winds gusting to 30 mph will create wind chills near zero and some blowing snow today.

Motorists should expect slow travel in heavy lake-effect snow bands. The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions, and to take it slow on ice and snow.
