Museum’s longtime gift shop manager retiring

Peterson began as a volunteer for the museum’s Holiday Home Tour, an event that she has co-chaired for the past several years.

In 1990, Peterson served on the museum’s Board of Directors. During her tenure on the board, she was asked to be the manager/buyer of the gift shop. After her term on the board ended, she continued running the gift shop.

By 1998, the board realized the importance of having a staff person in charge of the gift shop, and agreed that Peterson was the best choice.

“I’ll be 80 years old this year — I guess it’s time,” Peterson said about her decision to retire.

Her dedication to the museum will continue, as she plans to stay on the Holiday Home Tour Committee and volunteer for other events such as Feast of the Strawberry Moon.
