$5 million upgrade planned for SL

The current millage rate of 0.9655 is scheduled to stay the course, according to Spring Lake Township Manager Gordon Gallagher, but the budget includes an anticipated street light millage increase that will cost the owner of a $200,000 home an additional $4 per year.

Residents can sound off on the 2012-13 budget during a public hearing set for 7 p.m. Monday at Barber School, 102 W. Exchange St. The location change is due to property tax board of review meetings at Spring Lake Township Hall.

The township is on the receiving end of a 3.1 percent increase in state revenue sharing -- up about $95,000 from last year. This brings the income ledger to about $2.3 million, up from $2.2 million.
