The Township Board voted 6-0 Monday night to approve the 2012-13 fiscal year budget.
Also on Monday evening, a handful of township residents approved a $1,000 increase in trustee pay – from $3,000 to $4,000 per year — during the annual meeting of the electors.
Township Supervisor John Nash told the audience that trustee salaries have not been increased in six years.
"I think this brought the board in line with other townships of the same size,” Nash said of the raises.
Residents also ratified a board recommendation to maintain the current supervisor, clerk and treasurer salaries at $15,600, $30,000 and $12,000, respectively. The approved compensation is for statutory duties only.
Since 2010, Nash has received an additional $10,400 and Clerk Carolyn Boersma another $25,000 for duties that are outside of their board responsibilities.
The current millage rate of 0.9655 will stay the course, but the budget includes a street light millage increase that will cost the owner of a $200,000 home an additional $4 per year.
