The National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids said a mixture of rain, sleet and snow will be seen Friday morning, mainly north of Interstate 96. Anywhere from 1-3 inches of snow is possible, mainly north of a Reed City to Mount Pleasant line. Some sleet accumulation is possible, mainly north of a Ludington to St. Johns line.
The advisory area includes Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ottawa, Kent, Ionia and Clinton counties.
The Friday morning commute will be affected by lower visibilities in precipitation, with some slippery roads possible. Tender vegetation will possibly be affected by snow and sleet accumulations.
The Michigan Department of Transportation reminds motorists to adjust speeds based on the conditions, and to take it slow in ice and snow.
The forecast for the Grand Haven area tonight: A 40-percent chance of rain after 2 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 37. Calm wind becoming east-southeast at 8-11 mph.
Friday: Rain, mainly before 2 p.m. High near 42. East-southeast wind at around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 33. East-northeast wind at 6-9 mph.
