M-104 will be reconstructed and widened from west of 124th Avenue east to Interstate 96, beginning Monday. The estimated completion date is Nov. 2.

The westbound I-96 ramp to M-104 will be closed for short durations throughout the project, the Michigan Department of Transportation said. A signed detour will be in place.

In addition, 124th Avenue will be closed south of M-104. The detour is to take 130th Avenue and Leonard Street from the west, and 120th Avenue and Leonard from the east.

MDOT will be resurfacing 8.5 miles of eastbound I-96 from Norton Shores to Nunica, also beginning Monday. That project is supposed to end Aug. 6.

A minimum of one lane of traffic will be open at all times, MDOT said. All lanes will be open from 3 p.m. Fridays to 8:30 a.m. Mondays, and during weekday commutes between 6 and 8:30 a.m.

Westbound I-96 will be closed at 112th Avenue late Sunday and early Monday for setting new bridge beams. That is expected to begin at 10 p.m. Sunday and be done by 5 a.m. Monday.

Motorists will be directed to exit the highway at 112th, go north on 112th to Cleveland Street (M-104), then west to return to westbound I-96.

Eastbound I-96 will close intermittently between M-104 and 112th Avenue from 8 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday. Each closure will last about 15 minutes.

MDOT said all of the work depends on the weather — meaning no rain.

In northeastern Spring Lake Township, a construction project on Apple Drive was scheduled to begin Monday, but was moved back a few days by the Ottawa County Road Commission said.

From the county line to 144th Avenue — a seven-tenth of a mile stretch — Apple Drive will be subjected to resurfacing, gravel shoulder work and pavement markings beginning July 12. It is scheduled to be completed July 25.

The detour for the Apple Drive project is 148th Avenue and State Road, Road Commission officials said.
