Transit options considered

“It was just a couple of years ago that Ottawa County got the grant to do the study,” said Nate Lisenbee, spokesman for the Ottawa County Planning and Grants Department.

The study is to analyze potential routes for regional commuter transit service, and determine the feasibility of implementing and sustaining these routes.

“The purpose is to try and look at the need for commuter transit, such as regional services that would connect the regional employment areas,” Lisenbee said.

The study’s findings will include information about the existing local transit services and the demand for new regional routes.

“The consultant will look at different routes and see if it is feasible,” Lisenbee said.

The findings will include the potential location of regional routes, stops, transfer stations, vehicle fleet requirements, ridership estimates and costs.

The public is welcome to stop by the open house anytime between 6 and 8 p.m. Aug. 20 at GVSU’s Alumni House, 1 Campus Drive in Allendale.
