Local stars to dance

Couples will have until February to perfect their routines before taking center stage at the Holiday Inn Muskegon Harbor in downtown Muskegon, Feb. 21-23.
Tickets for the nightly shows cost $40, and $30 for a matinee show. They go on sale in January, event co-chairwoman Mary Kendall said.
The Muskegon-based Women’s Division Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, and proceeds will go toward food pantries.
Last year's dance show raised more than $100,000, which was distributed to food pantries throughout Northern Ottawa, lower Oceana and Muskegon counties, said Cheryl Deford, who helps lead publicity for the event.
One of the local stars this year is Spring Lake resident Cari Draft. The owner and founder of EcoTrek said she wanted to participate after hearing positive feedback from a friend who participated in a Grand Rapids version of "Dancing with the Stars."
