Reports: Ballot initiative spending to top $150M

AP Wire • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:55 AM

The reports filed by Thursday say at least $116.1 million was raised and $113.8 million spent by various committees backing proposed constitutional amendments and one initiative to repeal a state's emergency manager law.

All the constitutional amendments were defeated. Voters repealed the emergency manager law.

Paperwork wasn't filed for the group called The People Should Decide that backed a ballot issue seeking to require voters to approve building any new border crossing to Canada. Backed by Manuel "Matty" Moroun, private owner of the Ambassador Bridge, it earlier reported spending more than $33 million.
