County offers emergency training
Jul 21, 2015 at 12:03 PM
The training is designed to prepare people to help themselves, family and neighbors in event of a catastrophic disaster. The reason for this is because official emergency services personnel may not be immediately available during a large-scale event.
The eight-week course meets Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m., and is open to Ottawa County residents. Training sessions take place at the Ottawa County Fillmore Complex administrative building, 12220 Fillmore St. in West Olive.
Participants interested in certification must attend every class.
The eight training areas are: disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, CERT organization, disaster psychology, terrorism, and CERT and disaster simulation.
For information and to sign up for the course, call Sgt. Glenn Bo of the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety at 616-842-3460 or e-mail him at email@example.com.
