The Department of Technology, Management & Budget released the February figures Thursday for Michigan and its 17 major job markets.
The department said the statewide unadjusted jobless rate fell four-tenths of a point to 9.4 percent in the latest month.
The Detroit area has about half of the state’s population, and its jobless rate fell from 11.3 percent in January to 10.2 percent in February. The state said the neighboring Monroe labor market saw its unemployment rate fall 0.7 percent to 8.2 percent in February.
The department reports little or no change in the other 15 markets.
The Ottawa County market is unchanged at 6.7 percent and the four-county Grand Rapids metropolitan area is steady at 6.6 percent. Muskegon County’s jobless rate rose from 9 percent in January to 9.2 percent in February.
