To assist residents impacted by flooding, the American Red Cross is distributed clean-up kits today in Nunica and Robinson Township, and will be doing it again Friday in Grand Haven Township and Coopersville.

The kits include mops, scrub brushes, shovels, cleaning chemicals and other items to help people once they are able to return to their homes.

The kits will be available from American Red Cross vehicles on Friday at 6900 Arthur St., Coopersville, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.; and at 13250 168th Ave., Grand Haven Township, from noon to 2 p.m.

Homeowners who have property damage are asked to report it to their local township or city office. The county will collect this information to compile a collective damage report. Pictures of flooding and flood prevention efforts can be submitted via the flood information page at miOttawa.org.

Emergency Services Director Beth Thomas said the preliminary assessment for public damage from the flooding is more than $2.5 million. They are still compiling the damage assessment for private property.
