Snyder addressed about 900 people at the tulip festival's luncheon Wednesday, then put on a traditional Dutch costume to march in a parade.
Snyder said West Michigan is doing well, but people have to stop being shy and brag about its successes.
It's the third year in a row Snyder has visited the festival that celebrates Dutch heritage, draws hundreds of thousands of people and features millions of tulips.
Organizers said the eight-day festival brings in visitors from more than 45 states and 40 countries. It began May 4 and runs through Saturday.
