On Sunday afternoon at Harvest Bible Church, 225 E. Exchange St., Spring Lake, people from all walks of life will gather once again to say that the plight of our neighbor matters, to travel in the shoes of 75 percent of the world's population, and to raise awareness and resources for hungry and hurting people locally and globally.

The first Tri-Cities C.R.O.P. Hunger Walk was in 1974, and has since raised $868,000 with thousands of walkers and donors joining in. This year, in celebration of the 39th anniversary, the goal is to have 390 walkers from 39 groups raise $39,000. To encourage the community to meet this goal, a couple of donors will share a gift of $15 for every walker who raises at least $39.

Gifts shared with the walk will help people in our community through the ministries of Love INC, The People Center and The Salvation Army. Church World Service, an interdenominational ministry is the global partner, addressing needs domestically and internationally.

Registration begins at 1:15 p.m. with a send-off at 2.
