The 100 Men Who Give help charitable organizations in the Tri-Cities area by making unanticipated gifts to support good works in the community. The group, currently with 60 members, meets quarterly at Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake.

In a one-hour meeting, the group listens to presentations from members regarding local organizations, asks questions to presenters, and then votes to determine which agency receives funds. Each member writes a $100 check and the funds are quickly disbursed to the agency.

Since its inception in October 2011, the group has awarded more than $75,000 to local nonprofit agencies.

"I like that, as an individual, my $100 check can collectively make a big impact on a local nonprofit — $6,000 in this case," group member Kyle Williams said of the donation to the Center for Women in Transition. "This is the ninth organization we have supported. There is a wide variety to their missions, but what they have in common is impactful work that inspires our membership."

The 100 Men Who Give is open to all and welcomes new members at any time. The next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Seven Steps Up, 116 S. Jackson St. in Spring Lake. Contact Kyle Williams (by e-mail at coach@kylewilliams.net or call 616-402-1389) for more information.
