He was born in Grand Haven, Michigan, on March 27, 1926, to John and Emma (Forrester) Makin; and married the former Harriet Stygstra on November 10, 1956.
Mr. Makin worked on a production line for over 25 years and then as a security guard for Burns Security for another 25 years, retiring at the age of 81. Kenneth was a member of Lakeshore Baptist Church, played the accordion at polkas, knew many people and was considered a very special man. He used to ride motorcycles and participated in the hill climb event while climbing the hill several times.
Survivors: children: Hope Makin of Grand Haven, Kenneth (Annette) Makin of Grand Haven, Linda Norton of Grand Haven, Suzanne Makin of Florida and Faith (Tom) Stephens of Washington; grandchildren: Amber Crutcher, Brian Makin, Kimberly Cleveland, Debbie Powell, Sheila Klomparens, Ryan Norton, Keith Norton, Devon Lynch and Kyle Stephens; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2012, and brothers and sisters.
Service: Monday, October 16, 2017, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior at Lakeshore Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Muri officiating. Interment in Lakeshore Cemetery.
