He was born December 12, 1945, in Grand Haven to Chester and Edith (Forbes) Bishop. He married Eileen E. Burns on July 10, 1971, in Ludington.
Vern was employed at Muskegon Paper Box in Muskegon and Display Pack in Grand Rapids, at which he retired at the age of 58. Vern was a longtime attendant at The Salvation Army of Grand Haven. He enjoyed his family, fishing, reading and going to classic car shows, but most of all he cherished his wife of 46 years.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; sister-in-law, Mildred "Millie" Bishop; one niece and two nephews; as well as several grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews, all of which he especially loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Edith; and his brother, Donald "Don.”
A memorial service will be held at The Salvation Army in Grand Haven, with Captain Jay Davis officiating, on Saturday, December 9, at 12 p.m., with a luncheon to follow.
