Ben was a veteran of the U.S. Army in Germany, a long-time employee of Michigan Gas Utilities in Grand Haven and a good friend to many. He will be sorely missed.
Ben had a wry sense of humor and an infectious laugh. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, his Harley and, most importantly, his family and friends. Ben loved escapades to the U.P. and he attended the Sturgis, S.D., Motorcycle Rally for many years.
Ben leaves behind two daughters, Donna Stone and Darcy Burnett; his former wife and mother of his children, Leora Stone; three grandchildren: Michael Clark, Stephanie Shears and Dylan Sweet; great-granddaughter, Emma McCormick; brothers, Morris (Linda) of Alabama and James (Doris) of Michigan; sisters: Elizabeth (Ron) Anderson of Michigan, Peggy (Bryan) McLay of Michigan and Ruthie Moore of Alabama; brother-in-law, Arthur Bernardino of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Carol and Sue, both of Michigan; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded by parents, Samuel and Berdean (VanZanten) Stone; brothers, Sam and Bill Stone, both of Michigan; and sister, Thelma Bernardino of Indiana.
A celebration of Ben’s life to be announced. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Port City Church, Muskegon, Michigan.
