Boys soccer Division 2 district tournament
When: October 17-22
Where: Coopersville High School
Teams: Spring Lake, Fruitport, Muskegon Reeths-Puffer, Sparta, Coopersville, Ludington, Fremont and Muskegon
The O-K Blue champion Lakers and rival Trojans begin their playoff runs on Monday. Both teams will host their district opening match, while the semifinals and finals will be held at Coopersville High School. Unfortunately only one can survive the district gauntlet, as the two teams will meet in the semifinals if both teams win their opening matchups.
In the first round Spring Lake plays Muskegon Reeths-Puffer, whom they defeated 2-1 in the regular season, while Fruitport will take on Sparta, who they have not faced this year.
Boys soccer Division 1 district tournament
When: Oct. 17-22
Where: Mona Shores High School
Teams: Grand Haven, West Ottawa, Jenison, Grandville, Muskegon Mona shores, Hudsonville and Grand Rapids Union.
The Grand Haven boys soccer team drew a bye through the first round of the district tournament this week. Their first game will be against the winner of Jenison and West Ottawa on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Boys soccer Division 4 district tournament
When: Oct. 17-22
Where: Muskegon Catholic Central
Teams: Western Michigan Christian, Muskegon Catholic Central, North Muskegon, Kent City, Kent City Algoma Christian, Fruitport Calvary Christian
WMC and MCC share spots in the Division 4 district bracket. MCC drew a bye into the second round and will face off with WMC should they defeat North Muskegon in their first round matchup.
Grand Haven Volleyball Senior Night
When: Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Where: Grand Haven High School
Teams: Grand Haven vs. Grandville
The Grand Haven volleyball team will play their final regular-season game at home against Grandville on Tuesday. The Bucs have leashed the Bulldogs in both of their meetings so far this season. They will be honoring the careers of eight seniors.
GH Football team hosts Bucs Pride Night
When: Friday, 7 p.m.
Where: Gene Rothi Field
Teams: Grand Haven vs. Grand Rapids Union
The Grand Haven football team will finish off their season in solidarity with the community against cancer, hosting their Bucs Pride Night on Friday during their game against Grand Rapids Union. The players will don purple jerseys purchased by members of the community in honor or in memory of loved ones who battled or are battling cancer.
The sale of T-shirts helps fund three Bucs Pride projects: Bluebird cancer retreats, Community Cares baskets and the food pantry at the Johnson Cancer Center in Muskegon.
A reception will precede the game at 6 p.m. followed by a walk to honor cancer fighters. Look to the Bucs Pride Facebook account for more information.
