Spring Lake graduate Hanna Richter, a midfielder for the Saints, has been apart of the resounding success. The senior has tallied four goals and two assists this season, including a two-goal performance on Saturday in a 27-5 blowout victory of Wayne State. It was one of three victories for Aquinas that day, as it also defeated Saginaw Valley State, 17-2, and Kalamazoo College, 24-2.

Aquinas begins play in the Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse League playoffs in Division 2 on Saturday against Hope College in Toledo, Ohio. The winner advances to the semifinals against Butler University or West Virginia. If Aquinas advances, it will play in the national tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 3-7.

Davenport University senior starting pitcher Andy Westerburg is unbeaten in four starts for the Panthers this spring, sporting a 2-0 record.

The Spring Lake graduate has tallied a solid 3.44 earned run average, while striking out 15 and walking eight. He’s allowed just seven earned runs in 18.1 innings of work.

The Panthers currently sport a 20-10 record. Davenport took three of four games over Rochester College during a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.

After non-conference games against Olivet and St. Francis (Ind.) this week, Davenport battles league foe Siena Heights in a pair of doubleheaders on this weekend. The Panthers are 5-3 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

After tasting victory at the Lubbers Cup Regatta on Spring Lake last weekend, the Grand Valley State women’s rowing team continued its successful spring with a win in the top race at the Knecht Cup in Camden, N.J., on Saturday.

In the women’s varsity eight race, Grand Valley was the only club team to move beyond the semifinals, and one of two club teams to make it out of heats. The Lakers didn’t stop there, as they edged Rutgers by a mere three-tenths of a second to take home gold with a first-place finish.

The women’s 2V team also was victories in the Club DI/DII race. GVSU’s men placed sixth in the grand final of the Varsity Eight race.
