A splash and crash introduction to paddle boarding

Nate Thompson • Jul 21, 2015 at 10:54 AM

But Paul — who even enjoyed paddle boarding during the winter on Pigeon Lake and on calm days on Lake Michigan — explained to me that the sport was starting to gain steam in the area, and said it was not only a peaceful, fun activity, but also provided a tremendous core body workout.

He invited me to rent a board and try my hand at the sport sometime, but until last week, I never accepted the challenge.

But thanks to an invitation from Grand Haven’s Kim Evans, however, I can now cross it off my bucket list. Evans is hosting an upcoming public class introducing the basics of the sport and invited either myself or Tribune sports editor Matt DeYoung out to Grand Haven High School’s aquatic center to give it a try.
