Grand Haven’s Gina Kukulski won over Anne Packard at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4, while at No. 3, Erin Staal edged Amy Cook in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
The Bucs’ second doubles team of Adi Smith and Meghan Hendrickson were victorious, 6-0, 6-4. At No. 2, Leah Strong and Maggie Ginocchio won 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, while at No. 4, Jenny Hamilton and Olivia Reed won 6-3, 6-4.
The Bucs play at Grandville on Monday, then are home against East Kentwood on Wednesday.
LAKERS FALL TO NORTHMEN
Petoskey swept all four singles flights on its way to a 5-3 girls tennis victory over Spring Lake on Friday.
The Northmen won all four singles matches in straight sets. The closest competition came at No. 2, where Erin Clutter edged Lakers’ senior Mary Hamati, 6-3, 6-1.
Spring Lake struck back in the doubles flights. At No. 1, Lauren Kelso and Hayley Schram defeated Claire Wiktorski and Rachel Wittenberg, 6-0, 6-5. The Lakers’ No. 2 duo of Louise Silverman and Madison Khem won 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 over Madison Hooley and Gabby Jensen, while at No. 4, Spring Lake’s Katie Fisher and Hannah Gilbertson cruised past Kelly Sugrist and Karla Kane, 6-1, 6-1.
Petoskey clinched the match by winning at No. 3 doubles, where Kelsey Newarla and Ellie Chambers beat Morgan Khem and Faith Lee, 6-4, 6-3.
