The contest remained tied until the 10th, when Rachael Adams tripled and then scored after the Cardinals’ bobbled the relay throw from the outfield.

It was Adams’ second triple of the contest, while Lorimer totaled three hits — including a home run.

The Lakers overcame an incredible 17 strikeout performance from OV’s Megan Vanderwall. Spring Lake pitcher Sam Weerstra was also impressive, as she pitched all 10 innings and allowed just three hits.

In Game 2, Spring Lake fell behind 5-1 after two innings, but battled back to take a 6-5 lead in the fifth. The rivals played hot potato with the lead from there, with the Cardinals holding onto a slim 9-8 cushion entering the bottom of the seventh.

The Lakers’ final rally in the bottom of the seventh was kick started with a single from Shelbie Robinson, and a game-tying RBI triple from Lorimer. Micanna Pelkey ended the thriller with a suicide squeeze bunt that plated Lorimer and sent the Lakers into celebration mode.

Weerstra earned her second victory of the day by pitching the seventh and recording the Cardinals’ final two outs.
