Ryan Hamme led off the inning by drawing a walk. Steven Moya also found himself with a full count, fouling off a series of pitches before clubbing a long two-run homer to right that flew all the way into the parking lot.

Within a 3-2 score and still with nobody out in the ninth, Luis Castillo drew a walk. Dixon Machado bunted the runner into scoring position and Jeff Rowland earned a free pass. That put both the potential game-tying and go-ahead runs aboard with one out. But Hernan Perez struck out and Rob Brantly flew out to center.
