Cougars to honor cancer survivor at home opener

Bulk, of Whitehall, was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor on his pineal gland on Sept. 29, 2010 — a day before his ninth birthday. Due to the location of his tumor, the doctors did not want to operate because the tumor was located in the middle of his brain and it could have affected his sight, speech, and movement.

Fortunately, through six cycles of chemotherapy, and 30 radiation treatments to his head and spine, Bulk was announced to be in remission of  cancer on May 3, 2011.

Bulk has a cousin on the Cougars and he will be in attendance on Saturday rooting on the unbeaten semi-pro team.

“He’s going to be on the sideline with us and doing the coin toss,” Cougars’ coach Deirreio Duncan said.
