Joining the crew on board was Brace’s family, including Rebecca Brace, Leighsa Brace, David Brace, and  Jonathan Sytsma, a friend of Rebecca Brace.

All of the charter group attended Grand Haven Christian and Western Michigan Christian High School, except Sytsma hails from Wheaton, Ill.

Bylsma, in his second full season coaching Pittsburgh, led the Penguins to a 49-25-8 record. He won the Jack Adams Award as Coach of the Year in June.

Bylsma previously was the head coach of the Penguins’ top minor league affiliate at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

He was promoted to head coach of the Penguins 57 games into their season in 2009 and sparked a remarkable turnaround for the struggling team, leading them to a Stanley Cup title.
