Spring Lake finished with a team score of 197, which topped runner-up Ludington by 20 strokes. Fruitport was third with a 223, followed by host Tri-County with a 230 and Fremont with a 248.

Bitner said the Lakes Eight Conference is watered down this fall, as programs from Newaygo and Grant dropped their girls golf teams. Fremont also dropped their team, but will continue as a club sport.

Individually, Ellie Holman led the Lakers with a round of 48, while the team’s returning No. 1 golfer, Elinor Adams shot a 49. Adams finished 11th at last season’s Division 3 state finals.

Tori Kihnke carded a 50 for the Lakers, a score that was matched by freshman Karissa Rasche. Freshman Ginni Olszewski added a 53.

For Fruitport, Jenna Visniski shot a 50 while Carly Hoekenga and Kaylee McWilliams each shot a 54.

The Trojans will host a 10-team invitational on Friday.
