Wilson posted the following statement on his Facebook page:
"Just wanted to let everyone know. As of 2:30 today, I've decided to step down as the head football coach here at Fruitport. I also plan on retiring from teaching this spring. Not sure what the future holds for me, but I do know it's been a great ride. Thanks for all your love and support."
Wilson, 57, spent 23 years at the helm of the Trojans' football program, guiding the team to 148-79 record, including a state runner-up finish in 2001.
The Trojans have made the playoffs 10 of the last 13 years.
