“She had a great game,” said Fruitport coach Bob German. “She got most of her points on strong drives.

“I wasn’t surprised by (our offensive output). We changed our game plan coming in and the girls really responded.”

German said Fruitport really tried to push the tempo and their full-court press also helped create a lot of quality offensive opportunities. Fruitport had a 30-24 lead at the half, and pushed its advantage to as many as 14 in the fourth quarter.

The host Falcons turned in an inspired comeback, however, connecting on several 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to make the Trojans sweat it out.

Fruitport senior guard Amber Carmean connected on three 3-pointers and totaled 17 points. Mallory Vest scored eight, while Debbie Pekel had six points and a team-high nine rebounds.
