Bucs, Davis feeling just fine against Traverse City West

After slogging through her team’s last few games, the Buccaneers’ senior looked closer to full strength on Tuesday, and that’s good news for the Bucs as they’ll need Davis, and the rest of their roster, at full strength come Friday’s O-K Red Conference opener against East Kentwood.

On Tuesday, Davis hit a pair of first-quarter 3-pointers and scored all 10 of her points in the first half as Grand Haven took care of visiting Traverse City West, 50-31.

“I’m still kind of tired, but I’m starting to get way better,” Davis said after Tuesday’s contest. “Mona Shores (this past Friday) was a bad game, and the one before that (Holland Christian) was bad, too. I was tired. I couldn’t breath.”

Fortunately, the Bucs have been able to keep their undefeated record intact despite Davis playing well below full strength. They’re 4-0 on the season, including Tuesday’s win against a TC West team that features several outstanding players. Titans’ freshman Katie Placek caused the Bucs plenty of trouble, hitting a 3-pointer among her three baskets and getting 15 attempts at the foul line, making seven free throws for a game-high 14 points.
