In the boys’ competition, Grand Haven won six of the 10 possible Baker points with games of 195 and 180 for a total of 375 to Rockford’s 150-188-338.
The Bucs took 18 of 20 the match-play points thanks to games of 201 and 212 by Nick Laird; 226 and 211 by Zach Gargano; 223 and 211 by Nate Hix; 174 and 211 by John Morehouse; a 267 game by Jack Clark; and a 157 game by Shamar Stailey.
In the girls’ competition, the Bucs struggled mightily with only three girls able to bowl. One other was sick while another team member was out of town.
Sam McKinnon was a bright spot for the Bucs, earning a pair of points with her games of 142 and 159. Claudia Melton rolled games of 113 and 118, while Lindsey Bronold added games of 88 and 81.
The Bucs were shut out in the Baker games as their scores of 73-63-136 were no match for Rockford’s 124-123-247.
Grand Haven’s boys are now 2-0 on the year while the Bucs’ girls fall to 0-2.
