Tribune Staff • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:19 AM

Bucs’ coach James Richardson called the event one of the toughest tournaments in the state.

Connor Moynihan, Chris TeBeau, Dakota Smith and Luke Averill went undefeated on the day for the Bucs.

Grand Haven’s Camden Bertucci, Allen Torres, Dakota Juarez, Abraham Westerman and Garrett Kelly each finished the day with a single loss.

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers travel to East Kentwood for an O-K Red showdown with the Falcons.

LAKERS 3RD AT BANGOR

Spring Lake placed third out of 16 teams at Saturday’s Bangor Tournament.

A pair of Lakers — Tyler Nietering at 119 pounds and Andrew Hissom at 189 — won their weight classes. George Nietering was second at 125, as was Harry Kriger at 140 and Mitch Kriger at 145.

Billy Belcher was third at heavyweight, while Shane Skorupski placed fourth at 189. Jake Chittenden took fifth at 152 pounds.

Josh Stiffler took sixth at 125 pounds, while Kyle Edwards was sixth at 130.  Gabe Giddings was seventh at 145, while Al Slajus was eighth at 140.

“The guys wrestled real well today,” coach Dan Robinson said. “We had some guys come through some tough weight classes to make the finals.

“Tyler and Andrew wrestled extremely well, pinning their opponents in the finals. As a team, we had 12 guys place top eight. We still have work to do, and this week we face two conference rivals on Wednesday in Tri-County and Fremont.”

The Lakers travel to Sparta on Saturday.
