Dorman wins 100th with Trojans JV boys basketball

Spring Lake defeated Grant, 56-43, behind 14 points and five rebounds for the Lakers (9-3, 6-1 Lakes Eight). Carter Robson had 10 points and three boards, and Ryan Nolan chipped in with nine rebounds, six points and two blocks.

Fruitport coach Bob Dorman secured his 100th career victory in the Trojans’ 55-36 win over Tri-County on Thursday. Travis Grimm paced the Trojans with 14 points, Shawn Knox added 13 and Zack Garber totaled nine.

Western Michigan Christian claimed an early 13-4 lead but couldn’t make it last, losing 68-41 at Covenant Christian. Chaise Schuiteman scored 18 points and Alex Rop added 10 for the Warriors. Logan Waller added seven points and seven rebounds.


The Buccaneers scored a 50-46 win over the Wildcats, improving to 10-1 overall and 6-1 in league play. Noah Lein led the way with 14 points. Shaefer Thelen added nine points, five rebounds and six assists, while Cam Shelton pulled down 11 rebounds to go with three steals. Chandler Parsons had 10 points, two assists and two steals, and Nic Holwerda added six points and six rebounds.

WMC remained unbeaten with a 69-48 win over Covenant Christian. Jacob Ray tossed in 23 points while Tully Groenendyk scored 18 and Derrick Holt added 13.


Junior Varsity

Grand Haven doubled up Jenison, winning 40-20. Rachael Vanzytveld had seven points, three rebounds and four steals for the Bucs (13-0, 7-0 O-K Red). Bailey Tebeau had five poitns and five rebounds, while Krysteena Davis added eight points and seven boards.

Spring Lake thumped Grant, 38-19, improving to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in league play. Courtney Kyser led the way with 12 points and six rebounds, while Kelly Hoffius added five points and two steals.


Grand Haven routed Jenison, 33-8. Shayna Thomas led the Bucs with six points, while Lexie Alexander added five. Courtney Burnside added two points and nine rebounds for the Bucs (9-4, 4-2 O-K Red).
