Daniels is currently a goalie for the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins of the North American “3” Hockey League. He has a 3-2 record with a 3.62 goals against average in five games. With his signing, Daniels will forgo his remaining eligibility and return to West Michigan in April after his current season is complete.
Daniels is currently attending school and living with a host family in the Pittsburgh area. His credits will transfer to Spring Lake, allowing him to graduate as a Laker prior to enrolling at Aquinas.
“After spending my high school senior year away from my family and friends pursuing my dream of playing hockey at the college level, I realized that if I continued through the normal channels of junior ‘A’ I was going to defer my college education for two more years,” Daniels said. “When (Aquinas’ coach Mark) VanVliet called me and told me that Aquinas College was beginning a varsity hockey program and moving up to the (Michigan Collegiate Hockey Conference) in 2012, there was no reason to make my college education wait.
