Jake Vanderlaan and Nate Rose — longtime teammates at both Grand Haven and with the Grand Rapids Crew — will continue to play side-by-side as they pledged their services to Oakland University.

Goalie Ethan Beswick will play at Hope College, while defender Matt Davis joins another MIAA program, Adrian.

Vanderlaan was an all-state Dream Team selection this past fall, meaning he was considered one of the top few players in the state of Michigan, regardless of position or class.

Beswick was also a first-team all-state selection while Rose was voted second-team all-state.

Grand Haven reached the Division 1 state finals this fall for the first time in program history, coming up just short in a 1-0 loss to Canton.

Wednesday was the first day high school players could officially sign their letters of intent with college programs.
