“We really didn’t celebrate it too much. Nobody took pictures or anything,” Grand Haven coach Katie Kowalczyk-Fulmer said. “We’ve got bigger goals ahead that we’re focused on.”

The victory improves Grand Haven’s record to 18-1 overall and 12-1 in league action.

Alex Law and Shar’Rae Davis each scored 14 points to lead the Bucs. Law hit 3-of-6 from beyond the 3-point line and also grabbed six rebounds.

Center Abby Cole didn’t get the benefit of some calls in the paint against the Bulldogs’ physical defense, but the Bucs’ junior shined defensively, recording 10 blocked shots as well as nine rebounds. She also played a big role in limiting Grandville’s Jessica Dood to nine points. The O-K Conference’s leading scorer entered the contest averaging more than 18 a game.

Grand Haven opened the contest with an 8-0 run, but the ‘Dawgs battled back to trim the deficit to 13-8. The Bucs never trailed, however, increasing their lead to 23-15 at the half, and 38-27 entering the fourth.

Senior guard Jordan Keefe had a big game for the Bucs, totaling a season-high six points, along with seven rebounds and three assists.
