Thomas set a new school record in the 10,000-meter run at the University of Puget Sound’s Quad Meet in Tacoma, Wash.
Thomas, a junior, finished first in the event in 36 minutes, 44.99 seconds — which is nearly a minute faster than the previous school record. The finish was also fast enough to put her on the Division 3 national list, while also qualifying her for Northwest Conference meet.
LAW, MCC SET FOR POSTSEASON
Muskegon Community College’s men’s basketball team received a first-round bye in the Jayhawks’ postseason tournament, following its 78-71 victory over Glen Oaks Community College in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Grand Haven graduate Isiah Law led the Jayhawks with 21 points. He leads the team this season in scoring at 16.5 points per game, as well as contributing 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
JAYHAWKS’ BASEBALL STARTS STRONG
Muskegon Community College’s recent trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and northern Florida was successful, as the Jayhawks turned in an 8-2 record over the course of last week.
Grand Haven graduate Adam Poel won the team’s season-opener against West Virginia Wesleyan on Feb. 26, as he pitched six innings, struck out seven and recorded the victory.
