A sticky man-to-man defense by WMC in the first half kept the Wildcats without any three-point buckets. Montague more than made up for it the third quarter as junior Chase Casebolt hit two 3s, as did senior Alex Martin, and junior Jacob Marsh drained one at the buzzer to end the third period.
Brandon Stine hit two treys for Montague in the final period, giving Wildcats seven 3-pointers for the second half.
Junior Henry DeKam totaled 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Western Michigan Christian.
FRUITPORT CALVARY ADVANCES
Fruitport Calvary Christian advanced to Friday’s Class D district championship game with a 71-56 victory over Fremont Providence Christian on Wednesday.
The Eagles (18-3) raced out to a 24-12 lead at the quarter break, but had to withstand a 3-point barrage from Providence Christian in the second quarter.
Mike Warren scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for the Eagles, while Mark Carlson and Guthrie Collins each scored 16. Patrick Asdell added 10 points and 16 boards. The big man also had five assists.
Drew Maine chipped in with five assists and played outstanding defense for the Eagles.
