The meeting will be held at the Grand Haven VFW, 20 N. First St. in downtown Grand Haven. The meeting is open to the public. Individuals interested in the Lake Michigan fishery and boating on area waters are encouraged to attend.
A social hour and used fishing tackle swap meet will take place from 6-7 p.m. The program begins at 7 p.m. as guest speaker Rich Wunsch of Overboard Industries, the manufacturers of “charge” boxes, will discuss their product line, which is a convenient and effective means to charge glow lures.
Phil Rutherford, representing Big Weenie Tackle, will preview what’s new for 2012, then Dr. Dan O’Keefe, Michigan Sea Grant, will present information on the “State of the 2012 Lake Michigan Fishery.”
Crew members from U.S. Coast Guard Station Grand Haven and deputies with the Ottawa County Sherriff’s Department Marine Patrol Division will discuss rules to follow while boating; boat inspections; boating safety; and what individuals can do to ensure safe recreation on area waters.
