“We just couldn’t get anything going,” White said.

“We have struggled on links-style courses in the past. I think we are used to hitting down tunnels of trees and we don’t know what to do when we have some open space.”

As a team, Grand Haven shot a 338, which placed them fifth in the seven-team field. Rockford, which entered the meet undefeated in league matches, clinched the conference championships with a 306.  The Rams had four golfers place in the top 10.

Grand Haven, meanwhile, had no player break into the 70s. Reid Murphy led the Bucs with an 82, followed by Mark Nally’s 84 and 86s from Kevin LaCroix and Patrick Ferris.

Despite his off day, Ferris was named second team all-conference.

Grand Haven will look to rebound on Saturday as it travels to the Rockford’s Ram Classic at Braeside Country Club. The course will also host the Bucs’ Division 1 district.
