DeLass, a Spring Lake native who played his prep soccer at Western Michigan Christian, buried a penalty kick past former Forest Hills Central and current Michigan goalie Adam Grinwis.

The Bucks threatened several times in the extra session but couldn’t manage the equalizer.

“There were a few nerves, but I’ve been there before in the Elite Eight in college,” said DeLass, who starred at Wheaton College prior to joining the Dutch Lions — a minor league team that plays in the USL Pro league.

“I put it home, that’s the most important thing. We’re going to the Elite Eight, which is awesome, especially after a disappointing season.”

DeLass played central midfield for the Lions and wore the team’s captain armband for the game.
