Tri-Cities Kids League board president Chris Girard was notified of the giveaway in the spring from employees at Gage Motor Mall, which presented TCKL with nearly $3,000 in new equipment. The equipment included tees for the T-Ball league, whiffle balls for soft-toss and batting practice, and equipment bags.
TCKL board members also accepted a $500 check through the Chevrolet promotion on Monday for future use in the league. TCKL board vice president George Morse said the league relies on as many as 100 local sponsors to help keep the cost to play in the league at a minimum for players. The $500 could benefit that desire even further.
TCKL’s eight leagues feature approximately 900 players in grades K-11. The league’s All-Star games will be held on Saturday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Grand Haven High School.
Chevrolet’s 2012 program benefitted approximately 350 youth leagues in the Northeastern region, while Chevy dealers will contribute over $600,000 in monetary and equipment donations.
