Young Bucs to host ‘Basketball Madness’ Oct. 11

Tribune Staff • Jul 21, 2015 at 11:46 AM

The event is open to boys in grades 4-6 and girls in grades 5-6.

During the event, kids will have a chance to hang out with their friends in the gym while competing in various basketball contests, with the chance to win prizes. They’ll also have an opportunity to compete against some of the Grand Haven varsity basketball players.

At the same time, parents will learn about Bucs for Better Basketball, or B Cubed, which was formed to support competitive basketball programs in the area, including Young Bucs, winter challenge leagues and AYBT summer basketball.

Parents will have the opportunity to speak with providers of other area basketball programs, including Basketball Basics, Shoreline Hoops, the Northwest Ottawa Recreation Authority and the YMCA, and will get a chance to meet with Grand Haven varsity basketball coaches as well.

Visit www.bucsforbetterbasketball.com for more information about B Cubed and other competitive basketball options.

The boys’ Young Bucs evaluation day will take place on Oct. 21. League action begins the week of Oct. 29 and includes seven weeknight practices and eight games. Attending the evaluation day does not guarantee each player a spot on a team. Practices 90 minutes long and games last an hour.

A Young Bucs evaluation day for girls in grades 5-6 will take place on Nov. 18. Following that evaluation time, players will be drafted onto their teams.
