Bucs' hockey breaks out of scoring slump with rout of Kenowa Hills

Jacob Steggles scored twice and Mark Nalley notched a shutout as the Grand Haven varsity hockey team blanked Kenowa Hills on Wednesday, 4-0.

Nalley turned away all 23 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season.

Meanwhile, Grand Haven peppered Kenowa Hills goalie Matt Lang with 35 shots. He came up with 31 saves.

Steggles scored the Bucs’ opening goal unassisted, then James Dyksterhosue scored later in the opening period, assisted by Tyler Ploeg and Steggles.

In the second, Steggles scored again, assisted by Tom Zelenka and Ian Hibbard.

Jordan Klaassen wrapped up the scoring for the Bucs when he lit the lamp later in the second period, assisted by Tom Zelenka and Chris Corgan.

With the victory, Grand Haven improves to 5-3-2 on the season.

The Bucs are off until Dec. 28, when they visit Midland Dow for a 2 p.m. contest at the Midland Civic Center.
