Grand Haven’s varsity bowling teams scored their first O-K Red Conference wins on Monday, as the Bucs each scored comfortable victories against host East Kentwood.
In the boys’ match, the Bucs appeared to be in for a tight match against the Falcons after the Baker format, with Grand Haven holding a 6-4 lead.
But the Bucs dominated the regular games, thanks to the team having eight players roll 200 or better. As a result, Grand Haven coasted to a 24-6 victory.
In Game 1, Keith Reuterdahl led the way with a 225 game, which was good for a point. Also scoring for the Bucs were Kaleb Schmidt (205); Jack Clark (176); and Shamar Stailey (205).
Reuterdahl was the only Buc not to score in Game 2, despite his strong score of 207. Instead, the Bucs got points from Schmidt (197); Clark (227); Justin White (204); and Stailey (217).
In the girls’ match, Grand Haven swept the Baker points, 10-0 and rolled to a 21-9 win.
Scoring points in the regular games were Libby Liebertz, Drew Boyd, Dominique Sauers, Gina Hartwell, and Anna Perrier. Sauers was the Bucs’ high scorer with a 155 in Game 1.
Grand Haven is back in action on Wednesday, as it hosts Grandville at Starlite Lanes.
