Even with a depleted roster, Spring Lake's varsity ski team still shined on the slopes during the Greater Grand Rapids Ski Conference meet at Cannonsburg Ski Area on Tuesday.

With just four skiers competing, the Lakers placed fifth in the giant slalom and seventh in the slalom.

The brother-sister duo of Bricker and Nora Reed led the Lakers' charge in the giant slalom, as Bricker was sixth overall and Nora placed ninth.

“Not that bad for missing a few kids,” said coach Gary Roberts. “We should be all dialed in for Thursday and for regionals on Monday.”

In the slalom, the Lakers' Collin Roberts had a tremendous two runs and placed second overall with a combined time of 1 minute, 5.48 seconds. Nora Reed was the second-fastest Laker, taking 15th.

Grand Haven's boys were seventh in the giant slalom, but improved a slot in the slalom with a sixth-place finish.

Greg Page took 22nd to lead the Bucs in the G.S., while Lukas Walling's 18th place finish was tops for Haven in the slalom.

Grand Haven's girls squad settled for a sixth-place finish in the giant slalom, with Casey Davis' 14th-place finish taking top honors for the Bucs.

Lindy Vallier was the fastest down the slopes in the slalom, taking 14th overall and helping the Bucs place sixth in the team standings.
