Steelheaders to hold meeting tonight

The Grand Haven Steelheaders will hold their annual meeting tonight at the Grand Haven VFW, located at 20 N. First St. in Grand Haven.

The evening begins with a social hour from 6-7 p.m., with light refreshments provided and a cash bar available. Tables will be set up for people to sell used fishing equipment.

At 7 p.m., a brief meeting will be held, followed by a pair of guest speakers.

The first speaker will be Jay Wesley, Fisheries Division, Michigan Department of Natural Resources. He will speak on the Lake Michigan fishery and the cuts in the salmon plant.

Dr. Dan O’Keefe of the Michigan Sea Grant will then speak about current topics related to Lake Michigan.

Ed Verhamme, a project engineer with LimnoTech, will also be on hand to talk about the weather buoy that will be deployed between Grand Haven and Holland this summer.
