Lacrosse roundup: Davis' 7 goals can't lift GH girls to victory

Grand Haven’s varsity girls lacrosse team fell to 2-3 on the season with an 18-13 loss to Grand Rapids Christian on Wednesday.

The game was close at halftime, with GRC holding a slim 10-8 lead.

Casey Davis was dynamic on offense for the Buccaneers with seven goals and an assist to go with three ground balls.

Claire Reenders added two goals and an assist, and Courtney Hylok alsos cored twice.

Hillary Land and Anna Gagnon added single goals and Maddie Bryant had an assist and three ground balls.

Stephanie Szymas was in goal for the Bucs and stopped 10 of the 18 shots she faced.

The Bucs will play at Williamston/Haslett on Friday, with the varsity game slated to begin at 7 p.m.

Junior Varsity: Grand Haven and Grand Rapids Christian played to a 5-5 tie.


Spring Lake’s girls lacrosse club scored a 9-6 win over Comstock Park on Tuesday.

Marina McKeough had three goals and an assist for the Lakers, while Karley Englesman and Ellen Lauinger each scored twice.

Savanna Stout had a goal, and Emily Betten finished with a goal and an assist.

Emily Kramer made 10 saves in goal for the Lakers.
