Spring Lake’s varsity tennis team turned in an impressive showing at Saturday’s Rockford Quad, as the Lakers took runner-up honors behind Forest Hills Eastern.

The Lakers defeated a pair of talented teams in Holland and Rockford, thanks to a flight championship by Spring Lake’s No. 1 singles player, Lenka Pousova. She turned in three straight-set victories, including a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rockford; a 7-5, 6-3 win over FHE; and a 6-0, 6-1 triumph over Holland.

Another strong performance from Spring Lake was turned in by Amanda Twu, who earned a second-place finish at No. 3 singles; while the No. 1 doubles team of Madison Khem and Faith Lee also placed second.

Also on Thursday, Spring Lake captured a pair of victories at the NorthPointe Christian double duals.

The Lakers routed the host Mustangs, 7-1, and then swept Forest Hills Northern, 8-0.
